My paintings are inspired by the encroachment of urban and industrial elements into the rural environment. I am fascinated by the debate about man vs nature and the soft beauty of an english landscape being enhanced by strong industrial shapes. There is a beauty in the march of a line of pylons creating a network across the countryside, or in the contrast between a dark underpass and sunlit fields.
